My Health Record Pre-Requisites

To develop new products, or modify existing ones that connect to the My Health Record system, you must complete all the steps in this section

PCEHR means the My Health Record, formerly the "Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record", within the meaning of the My Health Records Act 2012 (Cth), formerly called the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records Act 2012 (Cth).

By operation of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (Establishing the Australian Digital Health Agency) Rule 2016, on 1 July 2016, all the assets and liabilities of NEHTA will vest in the Australian Digital Health Agency. In this website, on and from 1 July 2016, all references to "National E-Health Transition Authority" or "NEHTA" will be deemed to be references to the Australian Digital Health Agency.

Register for access to the My Health Record system

1 - Contact the Online Technical Support (OTS) Liaison Team at [email protected] to obtain a Licence Agreement.

2 - Register and accept the terms and conditions to receive your My Health Record system Welcome Pack.

You will receive the My Health Record system Welcome Pack containing:

  • Software Vendors Guide for My Health Record system connection and testing
  • My Health Record System Software Vendor Product Details form
  • Application to request a National Authentication Service for Health (NASH) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) test certificate kit form
  • My Health Record system Conformance Vendor Declaration form
  • Supporting document for My Health Record system Conformance Vendor Declaration form

Plan the scope of your My Health Record Implementation

In step 4 below, you will be required to complete and return the My Health Record system Welcome Pack forms to the Department of Human Services which describe your scope.

The My Health Record allows different types of functionality including uploading of clinical documents and utilisation of My Health Record views.

Assisted Registration for a My Health Record

In 2018 My Health Record will move to an opt-out model. Assisted Registration will not be required in software. However, if you would like to build it into your software, please see the following documents;

The HIPS product enables the seamless integration of digital health systems with national digital health infrastructure services, such as the Healthcare Identifiers Service, the My Health Record system, and national directory services as well as the secure point-to-point (P2P) exchange of clinical documents via Secure Message Delivery (SMD).

Receive NASH PKI test certificate kit and NOC Test Pack

You will receive the:

  • National Authentication Service for Health (NASH) PKI Test Certificate Kit
  • Notice of Connection (NOC) Test Pack containing test data and cases for your nominated product functionality

The NASH Organisation Certificate Tracker is a simple tool for listing the expiration dates of NASH PKI certificates for healthcare provider organisations.
